Sometimes it is not the destination, but the journey which delights the traveler. Equally gratifying is when other join in the adventure. While Getting Out There into nature and enjoying the spirit of the outdoors is something to stive for, at times encouraging other to join in adds to the pleasure. Currently at the Knysna Oyster Festival an event that is engaging festival goers not into their partners passion for compitition is the Geo Oyster, an event that has participants dashing off in search of selected way points in and around the Knysna Basin. In essence, the Geo Oyster takes place over 6 days. Two daily way points are posted on the website www.gardenroutetrail.co.za/geo.htm for participants to load into their GPS or navigator before setting out to find the respective locations. At each location a clue or a code has to be found (one even includes solving a Sudoku puzzle). Codes are then transcrobed into a code matirx which fills in the last waypoint.

So far, on the first day, it seems to have been great fun with folk learning the intracacies of following a GPS off road, at time having to make tracks. A fusion of culture, history and nature make this event a wonderful way to enhance your experiance of Knysna. So if you are at the festival in search of Oysters, wine or marathons, consider entering this event between all the regular events.

Punch in the co ordinates for trees, history, nature and fun and Get your self Out There. Follow up dates on Twitter by following CoastalWalk and on the Facebook group Geo Oyster. Ciao
